BEHRENS: 'I APOLOGISE TO KOUTSIAS, MY TEAMMATES AND THE CLUB'
Bending with extreme seriousness on what happened during the friendly game played against Viktoria Plzeň during the last day of the winter retreat at Benidorm, the FC Lugano firmly reaffirms that behaviours such as those occurred are in no way compatible with the values, the principles and the sportive culture of the club. Net of nervousness moments that can occasionally occur in the agonistic context, such a reaction is not tolerable and should never belong to a player, least of all to professionals with Kevin Behrens' experience.
The player, before the training session that opened the week, expressed his apologies to the club, his teammates and in particular to Georgios Koutsias, who was involved in the incident, taking full responsibility for his gesture. "I would like to apologise for what happened, first of all to Koutsias. My behaviour towards him was inappropriate and unacceptable, as were the epithets I addressed to him. I take full responsibility for it. I also apologise to my teammates and the club. Regardless of the tension of the moment, I should never have allowed myself such behaviour.
As communicated immediately after the incident, the FC Lugano managed the situation internally and evaluated and adopted the appropriate disciplinary measures, respecting its own rules and the responsibility that each player has towards the team and the society.
