A SEASON START FULL OF EXCITEMENT
The 2025/26 season began with numerous initiatives that highlighted FC Lugano's ongoing commitment to strengthening its role in the local area and beyond, across a range of areas, from the pitch to the office, and from digital to social media.
On the digital front, the Club has taken two significant steps: on 21 July, it launched its official WhatsApp channel, a new tool designed to provide fans with updates, exclusive content and useful information in real time; and on 22 August, FC Lugano arrived on Spotify with a dedicated channel, enriched with monthly playlists and special content shared by the players. These two initiatives demonstrate the Club's desire to get closer to its community, creating direct and immediate spaces to experience the Bianconeri passion every day.
On a logistical level, the season also kicked off with an important new development: on 25 July, the new official coach was unveiled on the first day of the Brack Super League against FC Thun. It is a state-of-the-art vehicle with an elegant and modern all-black design. It is a concrete symbol of the club's growth and the path of professionalisation it has undertaken in recent years.
A few weeks later, on 29 August, the DOCKS space in Pambio hosted the presentation evening for the women's teams for the 2025/26 season. It was a moment of celebration that brought together the entire Bianconeri movement, from the first team to the youngest players, and highlighted how much the Club is investing in a sector that is constantly growing. The words of Chief Sports Officer Sebastian Pelzer and the enthusiasm of captain Anila Bytyqi reiterated the importance of women's football not only as a sport, but also as a cultural and social expression for the whole community.
September marked another significant milestone with the 'First Day of School' project. The First Team players met with pupils from 27 primary schools in the Lugano area, bringing the values of sport – respect, fair play and team spirit – into the classroom. This initiative demonstrates FC Lugano's desire to take on an educational and socially responsible role, with the aim of strengthening ties with the younger generation and accompanying them on their journey of growth.
On 19 September, the second edition of the FC Lugano Golf Trophy took place, combining sport and solidarity at the Lugano Golf Club in Magliaso. The day culminated with the presentation of the proceeds from the tournament to the Golf dei Castelli association, which is committed to the inclusion of people with disabilities. This gesture confirms FC Lugano's focus on social projects and organisations that work concretely in the local area.
Continuing with social themes, a week later, on 27 September, the Cornaredo stadium hosted the eighth edition of Greenmatch, a traditional charity event in support of the Greenhope foundation. For the occasion, the Bianconeri took to the field wearing special black and green jerseys, which were then auctioned off to raise funds. The same day also saw Mattia Croci-Torti celebrate his 200th game on the bench with Lugano: a historic milestone that establishes him as the longest-serving coach in the club's history and a symbol of the bond between the team, the city and the fans.
On the sporting front, the first few months of the new season have not been without difficulties, with some mixed results in the early stages. However, the team has shown unity and determination, finding a clear recovery in recent weeks that fuels confidence and optimism. This journey reflects the club's ability to face challenges with resilience and ambition, continuing in the wake of an all-round commitment that embraces sport, society and culture.
A LOOK TO THE FUTURE
After some intense weeks, the calendar for October and November will be no less busy, with sporting events, institutional events and new challenges to experience together.
From 16 to 30 October, the city will host the Weekend dello Sport (Sports Weekend), an initiative involving Lugano's main sports clubs. FC Lugano, HC Lugano, Volley Lugano and Lugano Tigers will join forces for a shared experience: Bianconeri season ticket holders will have the opportunity to attend events in other disciplines free of charge, strengthening the spirit of the city's sporting community.
A few days later, on 24 and 25 October, it will be time for the Plan ₿ Forum, the international conference dedicated to bitcoin, innovation and financial freedom, which will transform the Palazzo dei Congressi into a reference point for world leaders, technologists and entrepreneurs. Once again this year, FC Lugano will be present with its own delegation, confirming its link with an event that is not only an important economic and cultural occasion for the city, but also a showcase for the Club and its partners.
On the football front, the first round of matches will be completed in October, having played each of the Brack Super League teams once, with matches against Zurich (18 October), Servette (26 October) and Lucerne (30 October). Immediately afterwards, on 2 November, St. Gallen will arrive at Cornaredo, followed by prestigious matches against Basel (9 November), Thun (22 November) and Sion (29 November). After a difficult start, the team has regained confidence and results: the goal is to continue this climb up the table, fuelled by the support of the fans and the determination of the group.
Since the start of the season, FC Lugano has demonstrated its ability to combine sport, social commitment and cultural openness, confirming its leading role not only on the pitch but also in the fabric of the city. The coming months will offer new challenges and opportunities to grow together: a story that continues, always in black and white.
