AIL Arena

Our Home

From the 2026/27 season, the AIL Arena is the new home of FC Lugano. After 75 years at the Stadio comunale di Cornaredo (1951–2026), the Club has moved to a modern venue designed specifically for football.
The new Arena was created to offer better conditions for the team, fans, partners and media: stands close to the pitch, new welcoming areas, digital technologies, hospitality spaces and services designed to make the stadium experience easier, more complete and more engaging.
The AIL Arena is also one of the key elements of the City of Lugano’s Sports and Events Centre (PSE), a project reshaping the Cornaredo area through new sports infrastructure, public spaces and an urban park of approximately 12,000 m².

Sustainability and accessibility

The AIL Arena project also focuses on sustainability and inclusion. The venue features a photovoltaic system, green roofs and areas accessible to people with disabilities, with dedicated sectors and routes designed to make the stadium experience more accessible and inclusive.

The aim is to provide a modern home not only from a technical perspective, but also in its ability to welcome different audiences and meet the needs of an increasingly broad community.

The first steps of a new era

The AIL Arena was officially handed over to the City of Lugano in March 2026. A few weeks later, on 30 and 31 May, the Opening Weekend opened the doors of the new Bianconeri home to the public, welcoming more than 10,000 people including fans, families and visitors.

On 5 June 2026, the venue hosted its first official match: Switzerland–Malta, a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, played in front of 7,526 spectators. This first international fixture symbolically marked the beginning of the AIL Arena’s sporting journey.
