Sport, fun and plenty of families were on hand as FC Lugano took part in Sportissima, the cantonal sports day held on Sunday 13 September. At the Lido in Lugano, the bianconero stand provided a great opportunity to introduce young girls to football and give them an even closer look at the club’s women’s programme.
FOOTBALL FOR ALL AGES
Throughout the day, numerous young girls put themselves to the test in the activities organised by the coaches of the FC Lugano Women’s Academy. From the youngest, born in 2022, right up to girls born in 2015, participants were able to take part in an interactive football course and various games focusing on shooting and accuracy.
The activities were complemented by a number of football-themed inflatables and the AIL-branded wheel of fortune, with free gifts for the participants.
THE NEW GIRLS’
FOOTBALL SCHOOL Sportissima served, above all, as a valuable showcase for the new Girls’ Football School, a project launched by FC Lugano in the 2026/27 season with the aim of offering young girls a first step into the world of football.
Many families took advantage of the day to ask for information and find out more about both the Football School and the Women’s Academy teams. The Club also collected contact details from several interested families, who may be invited to take part in upcoming free trial sessions.
A DIRECT CONNECTION WITH THE BIANCONERO
WORLD The experience was made even more meaningful by the presence of the Women’s Academy coaches and several First Team players, who are also active within the Bianconeri’s youth teams.
Their presence enabled the young participants and their families to interact directly with those who are involved in FC Lugano’s women’s football on a daily basis, transforming Sportissima into a new opportunity to bring people together and promote a sector in which the Club continues to invest and build its future.
