BAD NIGHT EXPERIENCED BY THE BLACK AND WHITE GIRLS

March 14, 2026

FC Lugano Femminile suffered their first setback of the 2026 calendar year in mid-March, losing away to Ostermundigen with a goal in each half.

The home side, who were aiming for their third consecutive home win, had to wait 20 minutes before breaking the deadlock. A corner taken to the near post saw Noemi Eli arrive, pounce on the ball and beat Chiara Audrino. The Bernese side sealed the victory shortly after the halfway point of the second half following a long ball to Andrea Gretz, whose precise lay-off set up Fatjana Golla. The #14 thus sealed the win for the team from the capital, who ultimately prevailed with a 2-0 scoreline.

Due to this setback, the Lugano side remain on 27 points, though they hold firm in seventh place in the table. Their next fixture, the penultimate match of the first phase of this championship, will see them take to the pitch at Campo F in Cornaredo at 6.30 pm on Saturday 21 March 2026. Their opponents will be Yverdon, the league leaders in the second division.

The Bianconere’s manager, Andrea Antonelli, analysed the match as follows: ‘It was a step backwards both technically and physically. We were hardly ever in the game and created practically nothing. We were slow and made numerous technical errors. It was a poorly played match. After our last two convincing home wins, I didn’t expect a performance like this. I’m confident, however, that the girls will bounce back over the coming week. This squad has quality and strength and will certainly rise to the challenge. Yverdon? It will be a gruelling and very tough encounter. The Vaudois are top of the table for a very specific reason and possess far more than one might imagine.”
