NSÍ Runavík will be FC Lugano’s opponents in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League, following yesterday’s away victory over FC Koper, which saw the Faroe Islands side qualify for the next round.
Having lost 2–0 in the first leg at Djúpumýra Stadium in the Faroe Islands, the yellow-and-black side managed to stage a comeback, winning 3–1 in Slovenia after extra time, levelling the aggregate score. Qualification was therefore decided on penalties, with NSÍ emerging victorious 4–3.
THE OPPONENT
Founded in 1957, NSÍ is based in Runavík, on the island of Eysturoy. The municipality of the same name, the third most populous in the Faroe Islands, has a population of around 4,000. The Faroe Islands archipelago consists of 18 islands situated in the North Atlantic, between Scotland, Iceland and Norway, and is an autonomous territory belonging to the Kingdom of Denmark.
National champions in 2007 and winners of three Faroe Islands Cups, NSÍ qualified for the UEFA Conference League thanks to their third-place finish in the 2025 league season. In the first round, they knocked out the Maltese side Hamrun Spartans.
The first leg of the third qualifying round will take place on Thursday 6 August at 8.30 pm at the AIL Arena.
TICKET SALES
PHASES Ticket sales will begin with the priority booking phase reserved for season-ticket holders, which opens today, Friday 31 July at 12:00.
On Monday 3 August at 10.00, the priority booking period for FC Lugano Members will open, whilst general ticket sales will begin at 15.00 on the same day.
Season-ticket holders and Members will receive an email containing all the information regarding their respective priority booking phases.
The return leg will be played on Thursday 13 August in the Faroe Islands. The date and kick-off time are still subject to confirmation by UEFA.
