Grand finale in Lugano for the 2nd edition of the Golf Tour

November 2, 2026

Over the weekend just gone (30 October–1 November), FC Lugano welcomed to the city the finalists of the second edition of the FC Lugano Golf Tour driven by Lugano Region, an initiative born out of a collaboration with strategic partner Lugano Region to strengthen the bond between the Club, the local area and the public beyond the Gotthard Pass.

Following the three qualifying rounds held over the summer at the Migros Golfparks in Holzhäusern, Oberkirch and Otelfingen – which attracted a total of 300 participants, around 25 per cent more than the first edition – the nine finalists gathered in Lugano for a weekend of sport, hospitality and exploring the local area.

The programme kicked off on Friday 30 October at the AIL Arena with a welcome event attended by 19 guests, including Daniela Bagaian, Marketing Director of Lugano Region, and Mario Lampert, Head of Non-Life for Central Switzerland at Howden Schweiz AG, the Golf Tour’s Event Partner. The evening included an aperitif, a guided tour of the stadium and a four-course dinner, offering those present the opportunity to get to know the bianconeri’s new home up close.

ON THE COURSE FOR THE GRAND FINAL
On Saturday 31 October, in ideal weather conditions, the Grand Final of the FC Lugano Golf Tour took place in the picturesque setting of the Lugano Golf Club. The nine finalists, accompanied by six guests, competed in the circuit’s final event. The three winners of their respective net leaderboards were awarded an invitation to return to Lugano in 2027 to take part in the FC Lugano Golf Trophy, the traditional charity tournament organised annually by the Club.

To round off the weekend, on Sunday 1 November, the participants enjoyed a further exclusive experience at the AIL Arena, thanks to the hospitality of the Tunnel Club, during the Brack Super League match between FC Lugano and FC Basel 1893. The day was made even more special by Mattia Croci-Torti’s side securing a 2–1 victory in front of 8,153 spectators, marking the first sell-out in the history of the new stadium.

The FC Lugano Golf Tour driven by Lugano Region thus reaffirms itself as a project capable of bringing together sport, tourism and networking, helping to promote Lugano as an attractive destination even beyond the Gotthard Pass and to draw new audiences into the world of the bianconeri. This journey is set to continue into 2027, when the Golf Tour will return for its third edition.
