FC Lugano announces the signing of Gjan Ajdin, a Swedish midfielder born in 2007, who has signed a long-term contract with the club (until 30 June 2030). A defensive midfielder with solid qualities in the interdiction phase, Ajdin can also be used as a centre-back if necessary.
Having come through the FC Basel youth academy, the youngster progressed through all the club's youth teams, reaching the U19s, with whom he also made international appearances in the UEFA Youth League. During his development, he has also played five games in the Hoval Promotion League with Basel's U21s.
With dual Swiss and Swedish citizenship, Ajdin initially played for the Swiss youth teams up to U16 level before accepting a call-up from Sweden. He has made a total of 16 appearances for the Scandinavian national team at U17, U18 and U19 level.
A promising player with an interesting profile, Ajdin will initially join the U21 team, coached by Andrea Vitali, until the end of the season. Starting from the summer training camp, the midfielder will then join the first team.
FC Lugano extends a warm welcome to Gjan Ajdin and wishes him a successful career with the Bianconeri.
