Various data and market analyses continuously confirm this: a not negligible part of the FC Lugano fans and sympathisers come from the German-speaking part of Switzerland. The area beyond the Gotthard is therefore an important strategic market for the HCL team, as it is for our partner Lugano Region, the tourist organisation of the city of Lugano.
In order to strengthen the visibility and attract sympathies towards the club also outside Ticino - besides the classical away matches of the championship and the Swiss Cup - F.C. Lugano SA joins forces with Lugano Region in a series of initiatives. These include the BILANZ Business & Football Summit, organised by Lugano Region and held on Monday 19 May 2025 in Zurich, and the FC Lugano Golf Tourdriven by Lugano Region. Both initiatives aim at making our territory and all its beauties better known and appreciated. Among which, from summer 2026, there will also be the new AIL Arena.
Football and golf have more in common than meets the eye, far beyond the image of a white ball on a grassy surface: if the atmosphere on a golf course is evocative and the culinary experience after 18 holes is of a high standard, the experience in the future AIL Arena must be just as enjoyable and engaging.
For this reason, three qualifying tournaments of the FC Lugano Golf Tour driven by Lugano Region are taking place in the heart of German-speaking Switzerland. The top three finishers in each category from each stage will be invited to Lugano for a weekend (Friday to Sunday) and will participate in the final tournament. The first round took place on Saturday 14 June 2025, in postcard-perfect summer weather, at the Migros Golfpark in Oberkirch. Below are some pictures of the first stage of the FC Lugano Golf Tour driven by Lugano Region.
