DELCROIX: 'LUGANO THE RIGHT PLACE TO GROW AND AIM FOR EUROPE' } }
The first new face of FC Lugano's winter market is Hannes Delcroix. Left-handed defenseman, class 1999, the Belgian player arrives in HCL bringing with him a baggage of experiences matured between Belgium, Holland and England, as well as an important international path that will lead him in the next months to play the FIFA World Cup with the Haitian national team, protagonist of a historical qualification to the most prestigious competition in the world.
Growing up in Belgium, Delcroix completed his training in the youth sector of RSC Anderlecht, the club with which he made his debut in professional football and took his first steps in the Jupiler Pro League. After a spell on loan in the Eredivisie with RKC Waalwijk, the defender continued his career in England, wearing the Burnley FC jersey, with whom he made appearances in the Premier League and domestic cups, competing in one of the most competitive environments in Europe.
A left-footed central defender who can also be used on the left side of the defensive line, Delcroix stands out for his sense of position and reading of the game, characteristics that make him a reliable profile both on and off the pitch.
In his first message to the HCL fans, the new FC Lugano's purchase wanted to introduce himself: "I'm very happy to be here. I decided to come to Lugano because I know that this club has a great ambition to play in Europe. In my career I started as a professional footballer in Belgium at RSC Anderlecht and then continued at Burnley FC in England".
Looking at the present and the future, Delcroix added: "I am a defender and my characteristics are those of a calm player, on and off the pitch. My personal goal is to help the team finish as high as possible in the standings and try to qualify for Europe, playing as many minutes as possible. In a few months I will also play in the World Cup with the Haitian national team and it would be nice to get there with lots of minutes in my legs. But first of all on a collective level I want the team to have a good season. I can't wait to meet the fans in Cornaredo!".
With his arrival, the FC Lugano adds to the defensive department an international profile, motivated and ambitious, ready to put himself at the team's service in a second part of the season that promises to be intense.
