JOÃO CARBONE FROM FLAMENGO

February 10, 2026

FC Lugano announces the signing of João Victor Schlickmann Carbone (29 January 2005), a 21-year-old Brazilian defender from Clube de Regatas do Flamengo. The left-footed centre-back, who can also play at left-back, has signed a contract that will keep him at the Bianconeri until 30 June 2029 (he also holds an Italian passport).

Having come through a youth academy of the highest international standard, João Carbone brings with him youthful dynamism and an impressive list of honours. Despite his young age, he already takes on a lot of responsibility on the pitch, as he has eloquently demonstrated by establishing himself as a key player and absolute technical leader at a top club with a great tradition such as Flamengo. His honours include two U20 Copa Libertadores and two U20 Intercontinental Cups (2023/24 and 2024/25). In particular, on 23 August, he contributed to the triumph in the U20 Intercontinental Cup by scoring the decisive goal from the penalty spot that allowed the Brazilian club to beat Barcelona on penalties.

Sebastian Pelzer, Chief Sports Officer: We are delighted to have brought a young player of João's quality to Lugano. We have been following him for some time. He is a promising signing, but at the same time a reinforcement for the first team. He is a very promising player who has already enjoyed some success at youth level. A modern defender with personality and tactical flexibility, he can be used effectively both as a centre-back and as a left-back. We welcome him to the group with great enthusiasm.

FC Lugano extends a warm welcome to João Carbone and wishes him a successful career in black and white.
