At the end of the suspended match against FC St. Gallen, Mattia Croci-Torti expressed his regret at the match being called off, but also his satisfaction with the team’s performance.
“It’s a shame we couldn’t finish the match,” commented the Bianconeri coach, “because today Lugano had shown the right attitude and the desire to win. The lads had found their rhythm and confidence right from the start, and after Thursday night they wanted to give the fans another reason to celebrate.”
Croci-Torti then recalled a similar previous incident: “It had already happened seven years ago, again against St. Gallen. That time too we were winning 1-0 and then lost 0-1 in the second match. If the rules haven’t changed, we’ll start from 0-0 again this time. Today the pitch conditions were the same for both teams, but Lugano were more present on the pitch.”
The manager also highlighted the team’s progress: “Today’s first half shows we’re getting back to the pace I want. Fitness levels are good and the team has regained its energy and conviction.”
Finally, a word on Amir Saipi, who returned to the starting line-up: “He showed the right spirit and a positive attitude. After a difficult spell, he responded with professionalism and today sent out important signals for himself and for the squad.”
