CORNAREDO EMBRACES VINCENZO BRENNA

May 3, 2026

Before the kick-off of the match against BSC Young Boys, Cornaredo Stadium witnessed a deeply moving and significant moment as it paid tribute to one of the legends of the bianconeri’s history: Vincenzo Brenna.

Holder of the all-time record for appearances in an FC Lugano shirt, with 441 matches played, Brenna took to the pitch accompanied by his family, in front of a crowd that applauded him with affection and gratitude. It was a special occasion to celebrate a man who, between the 1960s and 1970s, played a leading role in the Club’s history, contributing to the 1968 Swiss Cup victory and representing the Swiss national team.

The award was presented by Vice-President & CEO Martin Blaser and Chief Sports Officer Sebastian Pelzer, in a moment filled with meaning and emotion. Cornaredo was thus able to give a fitting tribute to a true bianconero at heart, a symbol of dedication, professionalism and deep loyalty to the Club’s colours.

In one of the final matches in the long history of the Cornaredo stadium, the tribute to Vincenzo Brenna took on an even more special significance. In front of a home ground that is about to be consigned to history, FC Lugano celebrated one of the key figures who truly shaped that history, leaving an indelible mark on the bianconeri’s journey.
