Waiting for the official debut of the FC Lugano in the Brack Super League 2026/27 season, the new AIL Arena will open its doors to the general public by hosting a series of appointments of national and international importance, that will symbolically mark the beginning of a new era for the city football.
The first official match ever played in the new HCL home will be the one valid for the World Championship qualifications, which will see the Swiss National Women's A team face Malta on Friday 5 June 2026. A match with a strong symbolic value, that will entrust the debut of the AIL Arena to a selection protagonist of the recent UEFA Women's EURO 2025, able to catalyse interest and participation all over the country.
Following this, on Friday 25 September 2026, the facility will also host the challenge between Switzerland U21 and Luxembourg U21, valid for the European Championship qualification. A new international appointment that confirms the vocation of the AIL Arena as a modern, functional facility ready to host high-profile events.
To complete the first programme of events, on Saturday 20 June 2026 the finals of the Swiss Cup Seniors 30+, 40+ and 50+ are also scheduled, which will also bring national amateur football to Lugano, further enriching the inaugural course of the facility.
In this context, the subscription subscription for the 2026/27 Brack Super League season assumes an even more significant value. As a matter of fact, the subscribers of the FC Lugano will benefit from the right of pre-emption for the purchase of the tickets of these matches organized by third parties, as well as for the Swiss Cup matches, for possible matches of the UEFA competitions and for the Brack Super League season 2027/28.
The first games at the AIL Arena thus represent a concrete anticipation of what will await the HCL fans starting from the 2026/27 season: a stadium conceived to live football at all levels, in which FC Lugano will be the protagonist of a new chapter of its own history.
To underline the symbolic and sportive value of these appointments is also the CEO and vice-president of the Club, Martin Blaser, who declared: "We are happy and proud to be able to host two matches of international calibre that will see on the field the girls of the National A team engaged in the World championship qualification and the young Under 21 players hunting for a place in the European championship. We are particularly pleased that the first official match inside the AIL Arena will be entrusted to a women's national team that contributed to the excellent outcome of the European Championships on Swiss soil and represents the flagship of a growing movement at national level and in full development also within our organisation. We insert these events under the ASF aegis in a context that celebrates the growth and visibility of women's and youthful football and seals the excellent relations between the Club and the Swiss Football Association, that we wish to thank for having grasped the importance of this opportunity and for having favoured the successful outcome of the negotiation by bringing two matches of this importance to Lugano".
