LUCERNE PASSES CORNAREDO

March 7, 2026

Matchday 29 of the Brack Super League sees the Bianconeri back on the pitch at Cornaredo, where they face FC Luzern in front of 3,385 spectators in an important match in the championship. After an intense midweek match against FC Sion, Mattia Croci-Torti's team is back on the pitch with the aim of continuing its good form against a well-organised opponent that is always dangerous on the counterattack. The result is a hard-fought match full of incidents, with both teams trying to take control of the game from the outset.

FC Lugano started the match more proactively in terms of passing and possession. In the first fifteen minutes, the Bianconeri built up play in an orderly fashion but failed to find the right opening to seriously trouble Loretz: long-range attempts by Koutsias and Bislimi did not cause the visiting goalkeeper any particular problems. In the 15th minute, Renato Steffen gave Cornaredo a scare with a shot from the edge of the box that flew just centimetres wide of the post.

FC Lugano continued to press and had another chance in the 18th minute: Cimignani crossed from the right and Behrens headed the ball, but Loretz made a careful save. As the minutes passed, Lucerne grew into the game and created their first big chance in the 33rd minute: Di Giusto delivered a precise ball from the left and Kabwit, unmarked at the far post, headed from a few yards out but failed to find the target.

Just as the first half seemed to be heading towards a goalless interval, the deadlock was broken. In the 44th minute, Kabwit shot from outside the box, the ball was deflected by a defender and looped into the box: Vasovic was the quickest to react, heading past von Ballmoos to give the visitors the lead just seconds before the break.

BIANCONERO GOAL, LUCERNE REACTION
FC Lugano returned to the pitch with determination and immediately found the equaliser. In the 50th minute, following a corner taken by Cimignani, the ball remained alive at the far post and Delcroix was the quickest to knock it into the net: it was the first goal in a Bianconero shirt for the defender who arrived in the January transfer window.

The match remained open and lively. Just three minutes after the equaliser, Lucerne responded with a great chance: Kabwit broke down the wing and found Grbić in the box, but the visitors' number 9 shot over from a good position. In the 63rd minute, however, it was Kabwit himself who made the decisive play: he started on the right, cut inside and fired a precise left-footed shot into the bottom corner to put his side back in front.

In the final minutes, FC Lugano tried to push forward in search of another equaliser, but left themselves exposed to counter-attacks from their opponents. FC Luzern managed the game well and, in stoppage time, found a third goal: in the 94th minute, a loose ball in the box was picked up by Di Giusto, who beat von Ballmoos with an acrobatic finish to seal the game.

This is the Bianconeri's second defeat of the week after the one against Grasshopper, which came just a few days after their midweek victory against FC Sion. Lugano's attention now turns to their next away game, which will see the team take on FC St. Gallen in a particularly important clash in terms of the league table.
