11 TIMES CORNAREDO': BOTTANI'S FIRST GOAL

February 27, 2026

Cornaredo is not just a stadium. It is memory, identity, belonging. With the last season in the stadium inaugurated in 1951 and the upcoming move to the new AIL Arena starting in 2026/27, FC Lugano has chosen to celebrate this historic transition with '11 volte Cornaredo' (11 times Cornaredo), a mini-series consisting of eleven episodes: a number that is anything but random, recounting eleven symbolic matches that have marked the history of the Bianconeri in their home stadium.

The journey began on 1 January 2026 with an episode representing one of the most iconic and incredible nights in FC Lugano's history: the elimination of Inter from the UEFA Cup in 1995.

This journey back through the history of FC Lugano and the Cornaredo stadium takes us to 30 November 2011, the day on which Mattia Bottani, a Bianconeri icon, scored the first goal of his long career as a professional footballer. A sign of destiny, recalls the captain, as he scored his first goal in a derby against AC Bellinzona, one of the most heartfelt matches, which we miss, he adds.

Enjoy Mattia's story, his memories of his first goal, and his emotions when talking about Cornaredo.
