CLAUDIO CASSANO IS A NEW PLAYER OF FC LUGANO
September 8, 2025
FC Lugano is pleased to announce the signing of Italian Claudio Cassano, class of 2003, arriving on loan from Chicago Fire FC until June 30, 2026, with an option to purchase.
Born in Trani, Cassano grew up from 2018 to 2023 in Roma's youth sector, with which he also won a Coppa Italia Primavera. In summer 2023, he landed at Cittadella, where he played two seasons in the Italian Serie B, collecting more than 40 appearances in the professional ranks. In February 2025 he was acquired by the Chicago Fire. In the following months he played in the club's developmental lineup, engaged in the MLS Next Pro, the U.S. professional league designed to foster the growth of young talent, where he totaled 20 appearances, with 10 goals and 10 assists. He also boasts 3 appearances and 1 goal with the Italian U20 national team.
Either a trequartista or an attacking outside player, Cassano is a technical and quick profile, capable of varying on the entire offensive front. His characteristics make him a valuable and prospective graft within the Bianconeri's technical project.
Sebastian Pelzer, Chief Sports Officer: "Claudio is a young player but already with experience in professional soccer in Italy and abroad. He has speed and quality in one-on-one play and can play multiple roles in the offensive phase. We are convinced that in Lugano he will be able to grow further and make an important contribution to the team."
FC Lugano extends the warmest welcome to Claudio and wishes him the best in the HCL jersey.
