Following the episodes featuring Anila Bytyqi, Antonella Albertini, Sabina Di Muro, Luisa Nascimento Sa and Aline Oliva, the first season of *Una Bella Storia* comes to an end. This video interview mini-series, presented by UBS, has provided an intimate look at the personal and sporting journeys of the players in the Women’s First Team.
The star of the sixth and final episode is Michelle Gigante, a midfielder born in 2008 who, alongside her football career, is also balancing her studies and work commitments.
FIRST STEPS
Her story begins with her earliest memories of the Tenero football academy, in a family environment where football was already a part of her life thanks to her brothers, whom she followed closely through training sessions and matches. It was also through those moments that Michelle developed a love of football, turning a passion that began in childhood into an increasingly important part of her daily life.
The episode also powerfully highlights the importance of family, with a special mention for her mum, a constant presence over the years through school, work and sporting choices. Alongside this bond, Michelle also talks about the best part of being a footballer: her relationship with her teammates, the friendships forged in the changing rooms and the emotions shared on the pitch, both in the good times and the tough ones.
THE DREAM
Michelle’s journey is closely linked to the bianconeri colours. Having watched the women’s team’s European clash against Manchester City as a fan, she could never have imagined that one day she would wear that very same shirt. Growing up playing football in Ticino, however, Lugano gradually became her future: first through a few call-ups, then with her official promotion to the first team, a process that unfolded step by step.
Michelle Gigante’s story brings the first season of *Una Bella Storia* to a close – a project presented by UBS that has given a voice to the players of the women’s first team, recounting their dreams, sacrifices, bonds and motivations. Six episodes, six different journeys and a single common thread: the stories behind every shirt, both on and off the pitch.
