Challenge of the 15th day of the Brack Super League between FC Lugano and FC Sion, with the bianconeri returning to Cornaredo a few days after Wednesday's commitment against San Gallo. Croci-Torti confirms the backbone of the starting eleven, relying on Behrens as forward reference and counting on the quality of Cimignani, Dos Santos and Mahou behind him. Facing them was a solid and well-balanced Sion, deployed by Tholot with a 4-2-3-1 and led forward by Nivokazi.
The match starts with moderate rhythms, with both the teams building but without finding accuracy in the last pass. The first ringing is of Lugano: at the 7th minute Zanotti's cross finds Cimignani's header, who doesn't manage to direct it towards the goal. The guests answered on the 24th minute with the best occasion of their first time, when Nivokazi hit a header from the centre of the area and forced Saipi to a corner deviation.
The game remained deadlocked until the 29th minute, when Zanotti was brought down on the edge of the area on the right. On the ball goes Cimignani, who with a precise and powerful left shot draws a perfect parabola on the cross: a splendid free kick that scores the 1-0 for Lugano. The goal allowed the Bianconeri to address a fought first period, characterized by several technical mistakes and few clear occasions. Croci-Torti's team kept the advantage until the interval, closing ahead after a first time of fight.
THE DRAW IN THE SECOND HALF
Lugano came back on the field with a good intensity and at the 50th minute came close to doubling the score: Dos Santos entered the area from the left side with a personal play and shot strongly from the left side, but Racioppi centrally blocked. Sion's reply came six minutes later, when contact between Zanotti and Hajrizi in the box was judged foul by referee Turkes. Nivokazi stepped up to the penalty spot. Nivokazi's tense, low shot went just wide of the post and the Bianconeri were saved.
The draw, however, arrived at the 63rd minute: on a ball rejected by Papadopoulos' header, Chipperfield controlled inside the area and shot into the corner, signing the 1-1. Lugano reacted immediately with a chance from a corner kick, at the 68th minute, when Papadopoulos volleyed from a close distance but without scoring. The best HCL opportunity of the second time, however, arrived at the 77th minute: Cassano broke through on the left side and served a low cross for Cimignani, who slipped ahead of everybody but didn't find the strength to beat Racioppi, who was able to block on the line.
In the final part of the match, the Bianconeri tried to raise their centre of gravity, but were imprecise in the last pass and were unable to find the decisive play. The game thus closes at 1-1, with Lugano that after Wednesday's defeat conquers one point and keeps its fifth place, two points ahead of Sion. An unspectacular game, conditioned by Wednesday's effort, in which Lugano struggled to find offensive continuity.
