TICINO SENIORS SUPERCUP 40+: BIANCONERI DEFEATED BY A NARROW MARGIN, BUT HEAD HELD HIGH

March 7, 2026

FC Lugano's Seniors 40+ team suffered a narrow defeat in the Ticino Super Cup final played at the Al Maglio sports centre in Canobbio on the evening of Friday 6 March. The derby ended 1-0 after an intense and hard-fought match that remained open until the last minute.

It was a difficult match, played with great spirit by both teams and remained open until the last minute. After an evenly balanced first half, the match was decided by a set piece in the 25th minute, when Luiz Fernando Rodrigues Dos Santos found the net to give Atletico Lugano the trophy.

FC Lugano reacted with pride, determinedly seeking an equaliser for the rest of the match. Despite their efforts and the chances they created, however, the result remained unchanged.

Regardless of the final result, the team gave their all on the pitch, once again demonstrating their great attachment to the black and white colours. Congratulations to Atletico Lugano on their victory, and Ivo Wenger's team are already looking ahead to their next fixtures in the league and the Coppa Ticino.
