F.C. Lugano SA is pleased to announce that the contract of Chief Sports Officer Sebastian Pelzer has been extended ahead of schedule beyond its original expiry date of 30 June 2027. The new agreement will run until 30 June 2029. The 45-year-old executive’s contract has therefore been extended by a further two seasons.
With this renewal, F.C. Lugano SA reaffirms its determination to continue the Club’s sporting and organisational development process. At the same time, the new agreement represents a clear expression of confidence in the work of Sebastian Pelzer, who, since taking up his role on 1 January 2025, has made a significant contribution to the evolution and strengthening of the Bianconeri’s sporting structure.
A central figure in the Bianconeri’s technical project, Pelzer has played a leading role in FC Lugano’s sporting development ever since the arrival of the American ownership led by Joe Mansueto, even while operating from Chicago. Since relocating permanently to Ticino 15 months ago, the German executive has promoted an approach focused on sustainable growth and the consolidation of the Club’s sporting structures. He has helped improve processes in player recruitment, scouting and talent development, while also fostering closer collaboration across all of the Club’s sporting areas.
Martin Blaser, Vice Chairman and CEO of F.C. Lugano SA: “We are very pleased to be able to continue our collaboration with Sebastian Pelzer in the years ahead. During his time in Lugano, he has demonstrated expertise, strategic vision and outstanding leadership qualities. The contract extension is, for us, a natural and consistent step, fully aligned with our desire to bring stability and continuity to the work being carried out within the Sporting Department.”
