Following the first few weeks of pre-season training in Caslano, FC Lugano is preparing to head to Germany. From Sunday 5 to Saturday 11 July, Mattia Croci-Torti’s bianconeri will be on a training camp in Weiler-Simmerberg, a town in the Allgäu region just across the Swiss border.
The team will leave the “Roque Maspoli” Sports Centre after three weeks of training and their first two pre-season friendlies in Ticino, to continue their preparations in a different and cooler environment – ideal for consolidating their physical and technical work ahead of the start of the new season.
The training camp will mark an important step in the run-up to the official fixtures. These will be intense days, designed to gradually build up fitness, refine the team’s tactics and allow the new signings to integrate more fully into the bianconeri squad.
TWO FRIENDLY MATCHES
During their week in Germany, FC Lugano will play two friendly matches.
The first is scheduled for Tuesday 7 July against FC Memmingen 1907, a team from the Oberliga, the fifth tier of German football. The match will be played at the Stadion Memmingen.
On Friday 10 July, meanwhile, the bianconeri will face FC Heidenheim 1846 at the Stadion Öschweg Leutkirch in Leutkirch im Allgäu. Their opponents, fresh from relegation from the Bundesliga, will be competing in the 2. Bundesliga next season.
Both matches will be broadcast live on FC Lugano’s official YouTube channel.
For Renato Steffen and his team-mates, it will be a valuable week not only from a sporting perspective, but also to further strengthen team spirit, share days of training and living together away from home, and return to Ticino with even more energy ahead of the start of the official season.
