In the penultimate round of the 2025–2026 Lega Nazionale B season, FC Lugano Femminile secured a comeback victory away at Oerlikon/Polizei.
The match, played at the Neudorf ground in Zurich, was a hard-fought and highly tactical affair, particularly during the first half. It was the home side’s captain, Münever Akyol, who broke the deadlock, converting a penalty as the clock approached the quarter-hour mark. For the Ticino side, apart from a shot hitting the post by Nina Gnesa and another missed chance, the provisional equaliser came in stoppage time, headed in by Lucrezia Sasso.
In the second half, the Ticino side stepped up the pace and produced 45 minutes of high-quality, intense football. As a logical consequence, they turned the match around in their favour thanks to Sasso’s second goal of the evening and a hat-trick from Mathilda Andreoli. In the end, the 3-1 scoreline was a fair result.
Thanks to this latest victory, their tenth of the season, the Lugano side have secured top spot in the mini-tournament. With 35 points, they now hold a six-point lead over Geneva’s Étoile Carouge, their next opponents on Saturday 23 May 2026 at 17:00 on the main pitch at the Cornaredo Stadium.
The bianconeri girls’ coach, Andrea Antonelli, analysed the match in Zurich as follows: “We had prepared for a specific scenario where they could have caused us problems, but fortunately we didn’t need to implement it. We were good at adapting to the situations, and this is a great sign of maturity on the part of the players. I won’t hide the fact that this makes me very proud of them. The ability to read the different moments of the game and change our system and approach during the match is the mark of a great team and a great group.”
