FC Lugano Femminile are on a roll, securing their third victory in their third match under Andrea Antonelli. On this occasion, Ostermundigen fell to the Bianconere, losing 4–1 (2–0).
In front of their home crowd at Field F of the Cornaredo Stadium, the two sides put on a hard-fought contest. Beyond the final score, the home side demonstrated a wealth of attacking prowess. Furthermore, they showed the ability to make the most of a couple of counter-attacks, building quality moves against an organised opponent who made physicality one of their key strengths.
The deadlock was broken late in the first half thanks to goals from Aline Oliva and Sabina Di Muro. The first goal came following an interesting move by the Lugano side from one end of the pitch to the other. The second, however, was a swift counter-attack. The second half began in much the same vein as the first. Anna Crapanzano’s third goal allowed the home side to continue their efforts with greater composure. Their control of the match eventually led to Lucrezia Sasso’s fourth goal, immediately followed by Bern’s consolation goal, scored by Mara Meier.
“The girls’ performance was very good, especially mentally. In this sort of match, against such a well-organised and physical opponent, you can’t afford to make the first mistake, because it’s then difficult to get back on track. For that reason, they did really well to secure the win and take all three points. Yverdon? They’re one of the contenders for the top two spots in the table, and I’m expecting a decidedly tough match. From today, we’ll start preparing for this fixture, training alongside the U18 squad. This way, we’ll begin to ‘bond’ even more closely with them too,” said manager Andrea Antonelli at the end of the home match.
The haul of points 8, 9 and 10 sees FC Lugano Femminile climb to 7th place, overtaking both Oerlikon/Polizei and Étoile Carouge in one fell swoop. The next fixture for Eleonora Castellani and her teammates is scheduled for 6.00 pm on Saturday 25 October 2025. Under the roof of the Stade Municipal in Yverdon-les-Baines, they will face the local Vaud side, the undisputed league leaders with 25 points from a possible 27 so far.
