LUGANO DONNE FALLS AGAINST A SUPERIOR YVERDON

October 26, 2025

Yverdon have once again proved themselves to be a class above the rest in this Women’s National League B season. The Bianconere girls paid the price, suffering a heavy 8–0 (6–0) defeat, which highlights the home side’s superiority.

The match, part of the tenth round and played at the Stade Municipal in Yverdon-les-Bains, saw the home side start with their foot firmly on the accelerator. The first two goals, scored between the fifth and seventh minutes by Ilona Guede Redondo and Maeva Sogan, immediately knocked the wind out of the team led by manager Andrea Antonelli. Forced to do without several players due to injury, the Ticino side endured a nightmare first half, in which they conceded a further four goals. The Swiss-Spanish Guede Redondo was the star of the show, adding her name to the scoresheet on two further occasions – in the 24th minute and ten minutes later. The two additional goals for the Romandy side were scored by Maddalen Sierra Larrauri and Carina Da Costa Vilela.

After returning from the dressing room, the team refused to be dragged into the abyss and, thanks to the right mental attitude, tried to fight back and managed to limit the damage, conceding only two further goals – both scored by Maéva Clémaron.

We managed to pull off a second half in which we didn’t collapse mentally or physically. And that’s positive, because it wasn’t a foregone conclusion with the match clearly one-sided. In fact, the second-half scoreline was only 2–0 in favour of our opponents. For this match, we were also able to count on Lara Milosavljević, a 2010-born player from Team Ticino, with whom we will continue to collaborate to consistently integrate young players from our canton,” said manager Andrea Antonelli after the match.

With this bitter away fixture behind them, the Bianconere now face a home fixture. On Saturday 1 November 2025, kicking off at 6.30 pm, Aline Oliva and her teammates will take on Schlieren. The match will take place at Pitch F of the Cornaredo Stadium.
