FC Lugano's 2025 ended in the best way, with a clear victory for 3-0 at Cornaredo against the BSC Young Boys that handed the Bianconeri the third place in the league standings and a special Christmas present for all the fans. A success that allows Mattia Croci-Torti's team to face the break with enthusiasm and confidence, and to recharge energies in view of a 2026 that promises to be intense.
Team and staff will now enjoy a few days off, to be spent between Christmas and the end of the year with the family, while following daily individual work programmes. The resumption of activities is set for Friday, 2 January 2026, with a meeting and training in the morning in Cornaredo, before leaving for the winter retreat.
As it already happened in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, the FC Lugano chose Benidorm as location for the winter preparation. The Costa Blanca resort, south of Valencia, will host the Bianconeri for a week of intense work, useful to better prepare the restart of the championship.
Two high-profile friendlies are scheduled during the training camp. The first will be played on Monday 5 January at 15:30 against 1. FC Köln, a German Bundesliga team, while the second is scheduled for Friday 9 January at 10:30 against Viktoria Plzeň, a top club in the Czech 1st Liga, also involved in the UEFA Europa League. After the morning game, the team will come back to Lugano in the evening.
At the end of the retreat, the FC Lugano will face a week of trainings at Cornaredo, continuing the athletic and technical work already set during the winter preparation, including the recovery paths of the unavailable players. The aim is to present itself at its best at the official resumption of the Brack Super League, on Saturday the 17th of January at 6 pm at Lucern.
After an excellent conclusion of 2025, the FC Lugano is getting ready to live a period of well deserved rest, useful to recharge the energies and to carry on the individual recovery work, laying the foundations to face the new year with momentum.
