FC Lugano took part in Girls Training again this year, an initiative designed to support and encourage women’s football in the region. The project, developed at the instigation of UBS and as part of the Swiss Football League’s activities, aims to attract more and more girls to the world of football, offering them the chance to experience a special training session up close alongside players from the Bianconeri’s first team.
On the afternoon of Wednesday 15 April in Magadino, the Club visited the girls of AS Gambarogno. The training session was led by Cao Ortelli, joined on the pitch by players Damian Kelvin, David von Ballmoos and Kevin Behrens, who actively took part in the session alongside the young players. Amidst drills, advice, smiles and photographs, the girls from Locarno were able to enjoy an engaging and educational experience, made special by the close presence of the first-team players.
The initiative was launched precisely with this aim in mind: to create a direct link between professional football and grassroots women’s football, instilling passion, motivation and a sense of belonging in the younger generation. With this in mind, the afternoon spent with AS Gambarogno perfectly embodied the spirit of the project, offering the girls an engaging and educational experience in close contact with the stars of the Bianconeri first team.
