Footeco Day, the traditional event dedicated to young Ticino footballers in the FE-12 age group, took place on Sunday 10 May at the Al Maglio Sports Centre in Canobbio.
The event, organised by Team Ticino as part of the Footeco project, brought together local F12 teams for a morning of football designed to encourage competition and monitor the players’ development, also with a view to selections for the coming season.
On the Maglio’s artificial pitch, the programme featured a tournament (played 7-a-side) from 9 am to midday, with the young players divided into 12 teams.
In keeping with the Footeco philosophy, this edition too focused on training and individual development rather than the result. The youngsters were divided into different teams directly on the pitch, in a setting designed to encourage learning, collaboration and the joy of playing together.
The day confirmed the value of a project that aims to create opportunities for different football clubs across the canton to come together, offering young people a relaxed and educational environment in which to interact with peers from all over Ticino.
The next Footeco Day is scheduled for autumn 2026, when the Al Maglio Sports Centre will once again host an event dedicated to the promising young talents of Ticino football.
