Footeco Day, the traditional event dedicated to young Ticino footballers in the FE-12 age group, took place on Sunday 12 October at the Centro Sportivo al Maglio.
The event, organised by Team Ticino as part of the Footeco project, brought together around 120 young players from all the canton’s football clubs, divided into six mixed teams that competed in a morning tournament on the sports centre’s artificial pitches.
Unlike traditional tournaments, at Footeco Day the teams are formed by mixing players, in line with the Footeco philosophy which focuses on training and individual development, not competitiveness. The aim is not victory for its own sake, but to offer the youngsters an environment that encourages learning, collaboration and the joy of playing together. An approach that aims to unite Ticino’s football community.
The initiative was a great success in terms of attendance, with around 400 spectators – including parents, family members and fans – in the stands.
The feedback received was very positive: for the youngsters, it was an opportunity to have fun, compete and grow together, within a relaxed and educational environment.
The next edition of Footeco Day is scheduled for spring 2026, between March and April, and will provide another opportunity for Ticino’s promising young footballers to come together.
