FC Lugano and Gotthard have announced a special partnership, born out of the coming together of two organisations with deep ties to the city of Lugano.
Gotthard, one of Switzerland’s best-known bands on the international stage, were formed right here in Lugano in 1992 and, over the years, have carried the name of Ticino far beyond the country’s borders.
As part of this collaboration, the band have recorded two new tracks dedicated to FC Lugano, designed to accompany the team and supporters during home matches at the new AIL Arena. Created in Lugano and written by an internationally renowned band from Ticino, the songs will become a hallmark of the bianconeri’s pre-match atmosphere and of the new stadium’s identity.
The tracks are entitled “Lugano My Town” and “Bianconeri Alè”. The first is a song dedicated to the Club, the city and the region: a track designed to convey a sense of identity and belonging, accompanying the fans on their journey to the match. The second, meanwhile, will accompany the teams’ pre-match walk-out, to boost the players’ spirits before they take to the pitch.
The two new tracks will make their debut on the occasion of FC Lugano’s official Brack Super League opener at their new home on 26 July 2026. To mark the occasion, some members of the band will be present at the AIL Arena.
THE FANS’ VOICE IN THE PROJECT
One of the key elements of the project was the involvement of the Curva Nord and the fan clubs. Gotthard met with the bianconeri supporters directly at the AIL Arena to record some vocal parts for the new tracks. This was a significant contribution, which allowed the band’s music to be linked to the voices of the stadium and the energy of the supporters to be incorporated into the new soundtrack.
For Leo Leoni, founder and guitarist of Gotthard, the connection with Lugano and the bianconero colours is deep and personal. The Ticino-born artist himself described his relationship with the club, the city and the project as follows: ‘The bianconero heart has always been there. As a child, I played for FC Lugano myself, and in the 1978/79 season we won a Swiss youth championship. That bond with Lugano has also remained in our music: Gotthard were formed here, and even though over the years we’ve become Swiss and then international, our hearts are always here. So working on two tracks for FC Lugano felt like a natural step. For us, it was essential to bring together the music, the fans and the team’s spirit. Without the fans’ support, what we’ve created wouldn’t have turned out so well: they brought the song to life and gave it that stadium atmosphere we were aiming for.”
Martin Blaser, Vice-President and CEO of FC Lugano, expressed the club’s satisfaction: “It is a great honour for FC Lugano to have produced two tracks dedicated to the club together with Gotthard, one of the most important bands on the Swiss music scene. We greatly appreciated the passion, enthusiasm and attention to detail with which they worked on this project. This collaboration represents a further step in our journey to promote our region and our identity. We are proud to have brought together two Ticino-based organisations that are recognised and appreciated both nationally and internationally.”
Through this collaboration, FC Lugano is proud to link its new home to Gotthard, a band formed in Lugano that has become a benchmark on the Swiss and international music scene. A black-and-white soundtrack, created by an organisation deeply rooted in the local area, which will accompany the team and the fans at the new AIL Arena.
SONGS AVAILABLE FOR PRE-SAVE
