FC Lugano has been ranked fourth in the Brack Super League’s 2025/26 Sustainability Ranking, the league table dedicated to club sustainability published by the Swiss Football League (SFL) in collaboration with Responsiball.
With an overall score of 65.2, the club ranks behind BSC Young Boys, FC Basel 1893 and FC Zürich, ahead of the other eight clubs featured in the Swiss top-flight league table.
RESULTS ACROSS THE THREE ESG
DIMENSIONS The assessment takes into account the three main ESG dimensions – environmental, social and governance – in which FC Lugano scored 70.5, 61.4 and 63.6 points respectively.
The highest score was therefore in the environmental category, where the club ranks among the top performers in the Brack Super League.
The SFL ranking is based on a total of 66 indicators, spread across the three ESG areas. The assessment takes into account publicly available information, data from the SFL’s licensing process and structured responses provided directly by the clubs.
The model has been further developed on the basis of the SFL’s and UEFA’s sustainability strategies, as well as GRI and Swiss Olympic standards, with the aim of measuring the implementation of sustainability policies in Swiss professional football in an increasingly structured manner.
THE 2029
SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY The fourth-place finish in the ranking recognises the work carried out to date and forms part of FC Lugano’s ongoing journey to increasingly integrate sustainability into its activities.
The Club has recently approved its 2029 Sustainability Strategy, which, from the 2026/27 season onwards, will guide the development of ESG initiatives across six priority areas: Solid Governance, Social Cohesion, Protection & Wellbeing, Future Generations, Sustainable Infrastructure and Climate Resilience.
The result published by the SFL thus serves as an important benchmark for assessing the progress made and identifying future areas for development, with the aim of continuing to generate value for the Club, the community and the local area in which it operates.
