DARIO ROTA TURNS 55

February 4, 2026

On 4 February 2026, Dario Rota will celebrate his 55th birthday. This is a significant milestone for a figure who has left a deep mark on the recent history of FC Lugano, embodying values of professionalism, belonging and spirit of sacrifice.

Having arrived in professional football later than many of his peers, Rota has built a solid career, making over 250 appearances in the black and white jersey. After spells at Mendrisio, Chiasso and Locarno, his name is particularly associated with FC Lugano, with whom he enjoyed some intense seasons between the late 1990s and the first half of the 2000s.

LUGANO AND THE NATIONAL TEAM
With the Bianconeri, Rota was a key player in a competitive and ambitious period, which culminated in 2001 with a second place finish in the league and participation in the Champions League preliminaries. A generous, determined and always reliable midfielder, he became one of the leaders in the dressing room, appreciated as much by his teammates as by the Cornaredo crowd.

His career also included three appearances for the Swiss national team between 2000 and 2001, the crowning glory of a career built step by step. After retiring as a player, Rota continued his football career as a coach, putting his experience at the service of young people and confirming his unbroken bond with the values of the club and the region.

A BLACK-AND-WHITE
EXAMPLE
On his birthday, FC Lugano celebrates Dario Rota as an example of dedication, professionalism and black-and-white identity.

Happy birthday, Dario!
