Cornaredo Stadium will host one more official match before it closes its doors for good. On Saturday 23 May 2026, at 5.00 pm, the Women’s First Team will face Etoile Carouge FC in their final match of the Lega Nazionale B season, scheduled for the occasion at the historic city ground.
Admission to the match will be free. Fans, families and supporters will thus be able to watch the team up close on a day of special significance, included in the calendar of the final events scheduled at Cornaredo. The Women’s First Team match will not, in fact, be the only event on the programme in the coming weeks. On Thursday 4 June, from 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm, the City of Lugano’s Sports Division will organise the ‘Picnic on the Grass at Cornaredo’ event, a celebration open to the public. The day will feature a football training session for children aged between 5 and 14, a picnic on the grass with entertainment and, from 8.30 pm, a concert by the United Soloists Orchestra.
PRESERVING THE PITCH FOR THE FINAL EVENTS
Following the men’s first team’s final match, the Cornaredo pitch will continue to be used for sporting activities and events open to the public. For this reason, ahead of the match on Sunday 17 May against FC Basel, the Club urges everyone to treat the pitch with respect, even after the final whistle.
Preserving the turf will ensure that subsequent events can go ahead as planned, from the Women’s First Team match to the picnic on 4 June, providing the best possible send-off for the final weeks of activity at the Cornaredo Stadium.
