This afternoon, Wednesday 17 June, FC Lugano will find out who their opponent will be in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League. The draw is scheduled for 2.00 pm in Nyon and will also determine the order of the two legs, which are set by the UEFA calendar for Thursday 23 and Thursday 30 July.
THE DRAW
FORMAT The bianconeri will enter the draw as seeded teams. For this stage, UEFA has divided the teams into small groups, each comprising an equal number of seeded and unseeded sides. Consequently, the team cannot face other sides in the same group bracket, but will be paired with one of five possible unseeded opponents.
POSSIBLE OPPONENTS
The bianconeri’s potential rivals are:
- Víkingur (Faroe Islands) / Stjarnan (Iceland)
- GAIS (Sweden)
- FK Vojvodina (Serbia) / Ferencvárosi TC (Hungary)
- Shelbourne FC (Ireland)
- KF Dukagjini (Kosovo)
Where fixtures are still to be decided, the final opponent will be determined by the outcome of the first qualifying round.
HOME AND AWAY
The draw will also determine which team will host the first leg. If the bianconeri are drawn as the home side for the first leg, the match on 23 July will be played at the AIL Arena; otherwise, the home leg is scheduled for 30 July. The official kick-off times for both matches will be announced by UEFA by 26 June.
