VEDEGGIO-LUGANO: LET THE CUP BEGIN
A special occasion for local football. Vedeggio Calcio v FC Lugano (AIL Arena, Sunday 16 August 2026, kick-off at 4.00 pm) kicks off the bianconeri’s 2026/27 Swiss Cup campaign, a competition in which they set themselves a particularly significant target every year.
On one side, FC Lugano, fresh from their trip to northern Europe; on the other, Vedeggio Calcio, a charming amateur club from Ticino based in Cadempino: two clubs separated by just a few kilometres, set to face off in a local derby-style Cup clash with a place in the round of 32 at stake.
A DAY TO CELEBRATE LOCAL FOOTBALL
The match, as mentioned, will be played at the AIL Arena. The draw had designated Vedeggio Calcio as the home side, in accordance with Swiss Cup tradition for lower-division clubs. Following the switch of venues, requested by mutual agreement between the two clubs and approved by the ASF, the match will take place at our new home ground, for a celebration that deserves a setting worthy of the occasion.
In short, a derby. A day designed to celebrate football in Lugano and the canton, highlighting the bond between the club, the local area and the organisations that contribute every day to the growth of football in Ticino.
