September 1, 2026

FC Lugano is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with FC Basel for Albian Ajeti to join the bianconeri. The Swiss forward, born in 1997, moves to Lugano on loan until the end of the current season, with an option to buy.

Born in Basel and having come through the youth ranks of the Rhine-based club, the new bianconeri striker knows Swiss football very well and boasts extensive international experience. During his career, Ajeti has played for Augsburg, West Ham United, Celtic Glasgow, Sturm Graz and Gaziantep, before returning to FC Basel. Having come through the ranks of the Swiss youth teams, Ajeti has made 11 appearances for the senior national team (1 goal).

Sebastian Pelzer, Chief Sports Officer at F.C. Lugano SA: “We are delighted that Albian has embraced our project. A seasoned centre-forward, he brings with him experience, knowledge of Swiss football and the qualities of a penalty-area player that he has honed whilst playing for major clubs abroad. We are convinced that he will be a valuable addition to round off our attacking line-up.”

FC Lugano extends a warm welcome to Albian and wishes him all the best in the bianconero shirt.
