FC St. Gallen 1879 will be FC Lugano’s opponent in the round of 16 of the 2026/27 Swiss Cup. This was decided by the draw held on the evening of Sunday 18 October during the programme ‘Schweizer Cup Highlights’ on SRF zwei. The bianconeri will face the St Gallen side away from home, in a clash between two Brack Super League teams.
The fixture comes just a few hours after Mattia Croci-Torti’s side secured a 4-0 win away at Pully Football. This victory allows Lugano to continue their run in the competition, having also seen off Vedeggio Calcio in the first round.
Awaiting the bianconeri, therefore, will be the defending champions. St. Gallen won the Swiss Cup last May, beating Stade Lausanne-Ouchy 3–0 in the final played at the Wankdorf in Bern. In this year’s competition, the green-and-white side reached the round of 16 by beating Thalwil 3–0 and Rapperswil-Jona 2–0.
The round of 16 matches will take place between 1 and 3 December 2026. The exact date and kick-off time of the match will be announced at a later date, along with ticketing information for bianconeri supporters.
