Having arrived at FC Lugano last July 15, Kevin Behrens was officially presented on Thursday, July 17 in the press room of the Cornaredo Stadium. A German forward born in 1991, Behrens boasts more than 100 appearances in the Bundesliga with the jerseys of 1. FC Union Berlin and VfL Wolfsburg. With the Berliners, he was also a key player in Europe, making 20 appearances in UEFA competitions (including five in the Champions League), as well as crowning his dream of making his debut in the senior national team in 2023.

A central forward of great physical impact and remarkable generosity on the pitch, he is known for his skill in the aerial game and warrior mentality. His arrival adds experience and depth to the HCL offensive department.

PELZER: "A PROFILE WE'VE BEEN MISSING"
At the beginning of the press conference to speak was Sebastian Pelzer, Chief Sports Officer of FC Lugano, who expressed great satisfaction with the deal: "We are very happy to have convinced Kevin to join us. We had been following him for some time and we are sure that with his physical strength, aerial game and fighting mentality, he will add something that we did not have on the roster so far. He is an element we were looking for to complete our attack."

FROM BUNDESLIGA TO SUPER LEAGUE
Behrens was quick to clarify the reasons that brought him to HCL: "With Sebastian Pelzer we had already spoken to each other when he was in Chicago, but the negotiation had not materialized. This time everything went faster. I was convinced by the chance to have an experience abroad, to live this adventure with my family, and to come back and enjoy soccer. Something is being built in Lugano: a new infrastructure, a new stadium and, why not, the prospect of playing internationally as well. This has me excited."

"I STILL HAVE A LOT TO GIVE."
Coming off a complicated year at Wolfsburg, the German wanted to clarify, "I didn't play much, but I always trained my best and never had any physical problems. Training every day has allowed me to stay in condition. This morning I had my first training session with the group, and day by day I will find my match rhythm."

From a technical point of view, the striker defines himself as follows, "I am a player who works for the team, who gives everything. I never back down, I like to participate in the game but also go straight for the goal. In my career I have done well in a double forward position, but I can also adapt myself in front alone if the team has a clear plan."

REPAY TRUST
Behrens also referred to the trust he received from the club after months that were not easy from the media point of view: "I made mistakes, but I always took responsibility. Now I want to focus on the field and repay the trust I was given. This is a new beginning for me and I want to prove my worth."
