ANTI-DISCRIMINATION REPORTING CENTER

Discrimination and exclusion can happen even in Lugano—whether it’s based on origin, religion, skin color, sexual orientation, lifestyle, or language. The Ticino Center for the Prevention of Discrimination is a hub for information, support, and reporting of such incidents.

PLATFORM FOR REPORTING ONLINE RACIST HATE SPEECH

A project of the Federal Commission against Racism (FCR)

online racist hate speech ...

... means online statements which are either written, image-based, or in another form, that insult or attack an individual or group based on their race, skin color, ethnicity, national origin, or religion. Such statements incite hatred against the individual or group, or endorse, encourage or justify statements to that effect. All reports are stored in a database and analyzed. They may be forwarded to specialist services on request. Reported content that meets the criteria of Article 261bis of the Swiss Penal Code may lead to criminal charges.

Reports of anti-semitic incidents are automatically forwarded to the Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities (SIG), the Foundation against Coordination Against Antisemitism and Defamation (CICAD). Reports of anti-Muslim incidents are automatically forwarded to the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Switzerland (FOIS). If explicitly requested, support and advice can be provided by a specialized counseling center. All personal data is handled with the utmost confidentiality.
